We're very grateful to you for considering a donation, and we want to give you something in return. Unfortunately, we're writers, which means that we're very poor. Fortunately, we're writers, which means that we're also very creative. So if you need further incentive to help us bring Signs of Life to New York, we've described some of your options along with the donation button.
Many of the donation amounts we've listed are in multiples of 18. This is because in gematria, a system that assigns a number to each letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the letters in chai (חי), the word for "life," add up to 18; Jews therefore often make charitable donations in multiples of 18 to show reverence for life, and given our subject matter we thought it only appropriate to participate in this tradition.
Because we're setting up this website ourselves, your tax-deductible donation will go not directly to Amas but to the adobe theater company, a non-profit run by our director, Jeremy Dobrish. We're happy to provide you with further information about adobe; just ask.
